Q: Why do men allow pride to rule situations?

It comes with the package. You like the penis and the muscles right? When you’re horny or want some drapes hung it’s all good, right? Well you’ve gotta take the pride too. Sorry…

But women act as if the “pride” thing is a one way street—an all bad thing. It most certainly is not! Let me give you an example:

Dude breaks up with his girl. Maybe he does it abruptly. Maybe he cheats. We’ll just say that however it is done; it is in a less than favorable fashion. That fool is liable to get his car keyed, tires slashed, windows smashed, house burned down (R.I.P. Left Eye) or just swung off on…(yeah, everybody wants a “ride or die” chick until she steals you)!

Now let’s flip that situation over.

Girl breaks up with dude. Maybe she does it abruptly. Maybe she cheats. We’ll just say that however it is done; it’s in a less than favorable fashion. She probably won’t get her car keyed, tires slashed, windows smashed, or house burned down.

My point is this. He most likely isn’t gonna do those things because his PRIDE won’t let him. That same pride he gets when he’s around his boys—-the one that gets on your nerves? That’s the same shit that’s makin him step off and make your life a little easier.

He knows he would look like a straight SIMP in front of his boys, if word got out he was hangin around your job…or trying to see who the next guy you date is…or found your car and keyed it in the middle of the night. I mean it’s some real sucka shit for a guy to do. We may want to…but as a man…how do I look runnin a little key across your Sentra?

Bitch!

That’s how I look!!

I mean if you could compare the stats for guys who did girls wrong and got some sort of repercussion against girls who did guys wrong and got some sort of repercussion…those numbers are wildly disproportionate. Tis a fact…

So yeah, our pride can get us fucked up…and we’re sorry about that…but it’s only fair that ladies appreciate the times it proves beneficial.

But here’s where I need the ladies to answer a question for me:

I was kicking it with my female friend “L” the other night. We happen to be talking about back in the day when Left Eye burned down her football player boyfriend’s house (Andre Rison). She was like:

L: He cheated he deserved that shit.

Me: C’mon L. I mean I know it’s fucked up that he cheated, but should it cost him like 3 million dollars? That’s ridiculous! YOU ain’t worth 3 million dollars!

(her mouth drops—I begin to rethink my choice of words and try to clean it up)

Me: I ain’t worth 3 million dollars either! (the clean up works…barely)  What I mean is—you study law—shouldn’t the punishment fit the crime?!

(she turns to me as serious as a heart attack and says):

L: It did.

WOOOOOOOOOOORD???

Which brings me to the question:

Ladies, why do you think cheating deserves any and all punishment it gets?

I’ve heard girls talkin like:

Girl 1: What happened to Jimmy after he cheated on Lisa??

Girl 2: That fool fell into a pit of alligators.

Girl 1(doesn’t even look up from filing her nails): That’s what he gets…

Wait……..what?

  1. As far as the scenario with the Girl 1 and Girl 2..had it been two guys talking about a female, yall would have said the same thing..lol..”That’s what she gets”.

    Realistically, no matter who cheats….it’s not that serious although, it may hurt. But hurt goes away and some feel like tearing something down of the “cheater’s” or doing harm towards the person will make that feeling go away, but it’s only temporary. I’m not trying to call anyone out but that’s ‘hood’ if you’re over the age of 25 and damaging property or physically hurting someone (most likely they don’t have anything to lose). I know dudes who have females friends that will have their back or hell some random crackhead for all that to get the chick back. If you’re younger, then it’s just that being young. Now, for a woman that has a passion to hurt the guy, there are better ways to get back that won’t get you in trouble legally. Ways that will linger and eat him up on the inside, if he liked the female. Or something to put a dent in his reputation, if the female is really trying to do some “get back”.

    I’m not for any of it, I say fuck’em and move on, too many men out here to waste my energy on one that’s a fuck up.

  2. All I can say is I co-sign with Sam!!!! Keep it movin’ - and yes it will hurt, but with time you will get over it, TRUST me!!!! It really isn’t that serious and it is wasting time on someone who’s not worth it.

    I agree, pride comes with the package for a man - and that’s okay with me! It can be a bad thing, but when it comes down to it, a MAN will appreciate you for checkin’ him about it. Or it can be good - like a man doing what he has to do to provide for his family (and I’m not saying it has to be illegal). Women have the pride thing going on too - I know when I was young and immature, I had tendencies of being crazy, but I would never do something like that even though I thought about it and you know why - PRIDE. I was not going to let a dude know that he got to me in a way that would have me act a fool!!!! NO SIR! Now, of course, I wouldn’t do thing b/c because I’m mature and have been through a myriad of experiences that I would not do something silly like slashing tires and all of that - WTF - for what? That is doing nothing but adding to a brother’s ego when he or the whole thing isn’t even worth it! Too much time and energy wasted because please believe me, it comes back around. It may not come in the same form that you dished it out, but please believe me people, you don’t have to do a thing - and that goes for men and women - you will get it back!

    Some things that people may do in retaliation actually make them look real silly for doing it!

  3. LMAO!! wait i need a minute..LMAO…females are EVIL if you men haven’t learned that by now then you never will. I honestly don’t know why some women are like that, feel the need to go ape shiz on a man cause he cheated or lied or whatever. Yes, it’s wrong and it hurts but it’s life and life goes on..I for one ain’t doing none of that crazy ish. You did what you did, and you knew it would piss me off but you did it anyway so that leads me to believe you don’t care about me so i’mma chuck deuces and head to the bar..the end..and don’t be mad if i holla at your cute friend..lol just kit-ting!….kinda :-)

    Bahama — YUP! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You can take 5 of the sweetest, most nurturing women on the planet. Put them together……….

    Yes, it is that deep for some women. If you really are in love and committed to a n*gga, I understand the need to slash a set of tires. The point is the female is hurt tremendously and she want you to really feel her pain. Messing with a man finances, will do that!

    Now would I do it? I have an aversion to going to jail for any reason, so that would put me in the “most likely not” category. (But I guess I need to keep my first-time-offender status in tact, just in case).

  10. Look, some men have a problem when a woman cheats on them, they start stalking or trying to physically hurt her…for real. That is soooo not cool and definitely warrants some interaction with the po-lice!
    If I were to play devil’s advocate…if a guy has been cheated on by his girl, if I were him, I would f*ck a close friend of hers. See, no murder charge involved with that scenario!
