If Women Don’t Get Men…

Fact – Women don’t get men.

That’s not to say that there aren’t a few women who do.  I’ve run across a couple of women in my life who’ve truly had an uncanny feel for the male psyche – I’ve also come across a pair of Siamese twins with approximately the same regularity.

So by and large, yes, women as a whole do not get men.  Don’t worry, we don’t get you either.  It’s what makes the everlasting tango that the two genders engage in so interesting.  It’s also what gives me fodder to write about on end.  None of this is a revelation though.

However understanding everything I’ve just written, there is one thing that still flabbergasts me.

Women don’t get men…but when they need advice on one, they go to another woman.

Ummm…  Why?

My pal* YourTango, over at Yahoo.com wrote an article that got me thinking.  The article was entitled Man Test: 3 Things To Look For.  It essentially breaks down some early signs that a guy you’re with may not be a great potential mate.  A good article to be sure and I agree with 1.5 of the 3 things.  But that’s not what troubled me.  This is:

Every woman seems to have gathered an amalgamation of advice, passed down from a sister grandmother, or college and grad-school roommates.

Yup…and none of those people has a penis.

It’s like anything else.  If you’re moving to a new city and you’ll have to find a new doctor—who’s one of the first people you’d consult?  YOUR CURRENT DOCTOR!

Hey Doc—I’ve really enjoyed coming to you—you’re great—do you know any great doctors in my new city?

Likewise, don’t ask your girlfriends about men.  Ask your girlfriend’s cool boyfriend about men.  You’ll be much better served.

Note: Whatever guy you seek for advice, you’ll have to make sure he has no interest in playing “hide the sausage” with you.  I understand that can be a tricky proposition in and of itself, but it’s worth the work.

I know that men are different and there are definitely no assurances that you’ll ascertain good advice…but I’ve run into way more guys who were like other guys that I’ve known….than women who were like any guys I’ve known.

So trust the penis…so long as it’s not one endeavoring to get inside you…
